How to convert kW to hp

1 PS = 0.73549875 kW · PS = kW ÷ 0.73549875

Metric horsepower (PS, KS) is defined as exactly 0.73549875 kilowatts. Divide kilowatts by that constant to get metric horsepower; multiply to go the other way.

A handy rule of thumb: multiply kilowatts by 1.36. For example, a 74 kW car has about 100 hp.

kW, PS and HP — what's the difference

Metric horsepower (PS/KS) and mechanical (imperial) horsepower are not the same unit: 1 HP = 745.7 W while 1 PS = 735.5 W. The difference is about 1.4%, so the same engine shows slightly fewer HP than PS. European registration documents state power in kilowatts.
