consumption = liters ÷ kilometers × 100
Consumption per 100 km is the liters refueled divided by kilometers driven, multiplied by 100. Trip cost works the other way: multiply consumption by distance, divide by 100 and multiply by the price per liter.

A car using 7 L/100 km needs 7 ÷ 100 × 500 = 35 liters for a 500 km trip. At 2.50 KM per liter the trip costs 87.50 KM. Split among four passengers, that is 21.88 KM each.
How to measure consumption accurately
The full-tank method is most accurate: fill up completely, reset the trip odometer, drive normally for at least 300–400 km, then fill up again. Divide the liters from the second fill by the kilometers driven and multiply by 100. On-board trip computers typically show 0.3–0.8 L less than reality.

How do I calculate consumption per 100 km?
Divide the liters refueled by the kilometers driven and multiply by 100. For example, 35 liters over 500 km equals 7 L/100 km.
How much does a 300 km trip cost?
With consumption of 6.5 L/100 km and fuel at 2.50 KM per liter: 6.5 ÷ 100 × 300 × 2.50 = 48.75 KM.
Why is my real consumption higher than the factory figure?
Factory figures are measured under laboratory conditions (WLTP). City driving, air conditioning, winter tires and short trips realistically add 10–30%.
