How much is the motorway toll from Sarajevo to Zenica — and what you really pay once fuel is added

From Sarajevo sjever to every exit, class by class

You take a ticket at the Sarajevo sjever entry and pay wherever you leave the motorway. The table follows the exits in the order you meet them, so you can see at once what each further exit adds to the bill.

The shortest relation, to Podlugovi, is 1.20 KM for class I; to Visoko 2.00 KM, to Kakanj 4.00 KM, to Lašva 5.50 KM. Drivers heading for Zenica choose between two exits: Zenica jug is 1.00 KM cheaper than Zenica sjever, which is also what the relation between those two stations costs.

The motorcycle column shows two amounts at Lašva. That is not a mistake in the table: for that single cell the official sources publish two different prices, so both are given. The Kakanj I and Kakanj II stations are missing from the table because they have no published relation with Sarajevo sjever.

The way back costs the same — in every cell but one

The price list is published per exit station, so Zenica jug → Sarajevo sjever has its own row on the Sarajevo sjever board. For class I it reads 6.00 KM, the same as in the opposite direction, and that holds for every class on every relation of this section — with one exception, motorcycles between Sarajevo sjever and Lašva.

For planning, this means a return drive may be counted as two identical tolls. The toll calculator does not assume it, though: it looks the way back up separately, so it would show a difference the moment the price list had one.

Carrying on towards Tarčin and Bradina: another section, a new ticket

Anyone coming from Zenica who does not stop in Sarajevo but continues south enters a second toll system at Sarajevo zapad and takes a new ticket. To Tarčin class I pays 2.50 KM, and to Bradina, the last station of that section, 3.50 KM.

No price list joins those two tolls. The total for Zenica – Bradina is therefore what the two exit plazas charge you added together, not a row you go looking for and cannot find.

Across Republika Srpska the bill is put together differently

On the RS motorways the categories are exact multiples: from Jakupovci (Banja Luka) to Kostajnica near Doboj category I pays 8.00 KM, category II exactly twice that, 16.00 KM, and category IV five times as much, 40.00 KM. FBiH has nothing of the kind — every relation there is rounded on its own, so one class's price does not let you guess another's.

The second difference is what a category is. The same van can be one class on the A1 and another in RS, because RS measures the vehicle's total height as well as its height at the first axle. Before a drive through both entities it is worth reading both definitions in the calculator.

Fuel and toll together: an example you overwrite with your own numbers

The distance in this example is not a fact about the road but an assumption for the arithmetic: suppose your odometer shows 100 km door to door. Read your real distance off the odometer or the sat-nav — part of the drive is off the motorway anyway.

With that assumption, a consumption of 7 L/100 km and a fuel price of e.g. 3.10 KM per liter, fuel costs 21.70 KM one way. With the class I toll to Zenica jug that makes 27.70 KM, and 55.40 KM there and back. Fuel prices move constantly — enter the current price at your own pump; this one is only an illustration.
